Loving.....

Grayson, you and your mommy came and played with Granddaddy and me yesterday. You stayed awake the WHOLE time!! I think you were thinking we were pretty fun, cool people!! Granddaddy is singing lots of made-up songs to you--and you love that. Mommy played a "stick out the tongue" game with you--and you loved that, too. Hollan, the big dog, licked you all over your face--even in your ears!!--I don't think you loved that so much.
I am awed by how much I love you!! You are a special, special little boy. Love you always, YaYa

Sleepy, sleepy baby

Baby Gray, you can sleep ANYWHERE!! Here you are possibly trying to wake up in Granddaddy's arms.....

and sleeping in your carseat after your first real walk in the stroller....

and sleeping while Hollan messes with you.....

and sleeping while Helen does facial manipulations with you.....

and while Helen kisses on you.....

and while YaYa is holding you in her lap...

and even when YaYa has you all snugged up--check out how cute and fuzzed up your hair is!!
I have gotten a chance to babysit you several times this weekend. And I think I am officially in love with you!! what a surprise!! Even though, you still are sleeping a ton, we are seeing more and more that you are awake and checking out everything. You especially love to look at your mommy. On Friday you spend most of the day out and about with me and your mom--first time ever!! Then Saturday you were SO sleepy all day. Mommy was afraid you wouldn't sleep at night--but you surprised her and slept most of the night as well.
Gray, you are now seven weeks old and I have finally learned how to upload pics on to this. Helen has just taught me this skill--I hope I can remember how to do it again, because this will be a boring blog with no photos!!

Six Weeks and counting....

Grayson, We had a very merry unbirthday party for you on May 13th. That was your actual due date AND you were officially six weeks old. You sat in the bouncy seat on the table on the deck and slept the WHOLE time we ate dinner and celebrated having you with us. You are the sleepiest boy ever!! I think Mom and Dad are going to be in for a rude awakening when you wake up and start really needing lots of things!! You are spoiling them rotten--you are so sweet and sleepy.

You have had a busy weekend and gone a number of places--to Target where you road in the shopping cart for the first time, to Jubilee Joe's and then last night your mom and dad took you to Habanero's for Mexican. I wish we could get a pic with you and a sombero!! It would totally swallow you up!!

I think I am going to come and see you this afternoon. I just joined a grandparents' group online that talks about good books for grandkids. I am ready for you to see and "read" all kinds of books. It's a little tough now because you keep your eyes shut so darn much!! But know you and I always will have a stack of books to read. Much love always, YaYa

First Mother's Day as YaYa

This weekend was the Rogers' family reunion in Birmingham--Brenda and MawMaw came from MS with lots of food--including hashbrown casserole; Sonya, George and Austin came from CA. You got to spend all the time at your house being passed around, kissed on and loved over!! You were almost as delighted to be the center of attention as Lola was!! Lola did get a little excited and scratched your head a little bit--you were a brave, big boy and weren't too bothered. I think Momma and Daddy both were pretty perturbed with Lola, tho.
Your mom and I went to head Norah Jones last night. She was amazing--she sings like your momma!! Your mom looked awesome, too--no one could believe she had had a baby five weeks ago!! When we got home I got to spend a little while holding and loving on you. Granddaddy had come over, too, so we both just reveled in being grandparents. Granddaddy is making up all kinds of songs for you--just like he did for your mom and your aunt. I think you like them lots. He is calling you "little guy" or "little buddy" which makes me laugh.
I got a camera for Mother's Day and I am going to be going to town. Your Aunt Helen is going to have to teach me how to download/upload (??!!) pictures. I'll be the YaYa of 2010 with all my computer literacy soon!! Remember, Baby Gray....I love you SOOOOOOO much!! YaYa

Gracious, Gray!! I LOVE saying that!! You are five weeks old today. Your momma took you to the doctor yesterday and you weighed 6lbs 13 ozs. That is amazing--more than a pound in two weeks!!
Yesterday was Cinco de Mayo. Momma and Daddy went out to dinner on a whim with Meredith and Brent. And I got to babysit. I was there three and a half hours and you just never really woke up. I tried everything from changing your diaper to putting on a new outfit to singing and dancing and jiggling you. And still you slept on and on!! I think you are in a big time growth spurt. You are such a beautiful, handsome, sweet baby. I think we are going to keep you!! Love you for ever!! Yaya
